Bookshelf

I decided to try out Booklog for myself. It’s quite nice, but the interface is poor, so it takes a long time to add books, and it isn’t possible to add book covers when they are not available on Amazon Japan. I think LibraryThing is much better, so I have chosen to use that. But Booklog’s way of presenting books is very nice. Here is my Bookshelf.Rick’s Bookshelf

Book log

I just found a very interesting page. It’s called a booklog, and it’s a picture of your bookshelves with some information about each book.

It looks like anyone can register and make a similar booklog. Why don’t you give it a try!?

Hi

Chocolate

I’ve just found some interesting links related to chocolate. If you’re interested take a look!

First, the Cadbury chocolate site. Cadbury is Britain’s most famous chocolate company. I recommend the “Make chocolate in our virtual factory” game.

The biggest chocolate company in the USA is Hershey’s. Take a look at some of the recipes.

Oxfam has a site called Chokky Central that tells us about how chocolate and chocolate biscuits (”chokky bikkies”) are made, introduces fair trade, and has interesting quizzes.

2nd November meeting

Don’t forget that the 2nd meeting in November is the day after tomorrow (Thursday, November 30th), in my office from 6:00 to 6:45 as usual!

3rd (& 4th) meeting, 2nd semester

Hi everyone,

The 3rd meeting was held last Thursday, 9th November. Because of the approaching campus festival, Midori wasn’t able to come, and Hiromi was probably very busy with her graduation dissertation.

Just the day before the meeting I was very pleased to receive a package from Longman, with a selection of books from the Longman Literacy Land (LLL) series. I and some of the other members chose to read titles from this series. We read mainly the Info Trail non-fiction titles. Everybody seemed interested and I thought they were all excellent. I’ll be ordering all the books I can find for the library and for my office collection as soon as possible. LLL also includes fiction books, called Story Street.

Because November 23rd is a public holiday, the next meeting will be on November 30th.

Another good ER blog

I just found another good blog by a Japanese learner of English doing extensive reading. It’s called Drop’s Happy Reading Day and it has pointers to lots of interesting books. Also check out the links in the sidebar!
